Our Story
Halcyon True North was founded on the belief that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. For many students, the greatest barrier to higher education isn’t ability—it’s uncertainty. They may be the first in their family to attend college, unsure where to begin, unaware of available resources, or simply unable to imagine that a college education is within reach.
Our mission is to help students move beyond those storms by providing more than financial assistance. Through mentorship, encouragement, practical guidance, and educational support, we empower students to navigate a path they may never have believed possible.
In Greek mythology, the Halcyon symbolizes peace and calm after life’s storms. According to legend, the gods granted the Halcyon bird a period of tranquil seas each winter so it could safely build its nest and nurture the next generation. Those “halcyon days” have come to represent hope, stability, and the promise of new beginnings. Inspired by that timeless symbolism, Halcyon True North exists to help students weather life’s storms so they can discover a future filled with hope, opportunity, and purpose.

Our goal is simple: to ensure that where a student begins never determines where they can go. By helping young people discover their direction and equipping them with the tools to pursue it, we hope to create a ripple effect that strengthens families, enriches communities, and future generations.
Meet Katherine
“My name is Katherine, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology. Outside of my academic pursuits, I enjoy staying active through exercise, traveling to new places, and participating in endurance events that challenge both my physical and mental strength. I am always seeking new experiences that encourage personal growth and allow me to gain a broader perspective of the world around me.”
